A federal grand jury has returned a 21-count indictment against Andrew Demetric Gillum, 42, and Sharon Janet Lettman-Hicks, 53, both of Tallahassee, Fla., for nearly two dozen felonies they allegedly committed during Gillum’s failed 2018 Florida gubernatorial campaign against now-Gov. Ron DeSantis.
In a statement, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida wrote that between 2016 and 2019, Gillum and Lettman-Hicks allegedly conspired to commit wire fraud by unlawfully soliciting and obtaining funds from various entities and individuals “through false and fraudulent promises and representations that the funds would be used for a legitimate purpose.”
“The Indictment further alleges the defendants used third parties to divert a portion of those funds to a company owned by Lettman-Hicks, who then fraudulently provided the funds, disguised as payroll payments, to Gillum for his personal use,” the statement further reads.
Both Gillum and Lettman-Hicks are being charged with 19 counts of wire fraud, and Gillum is also charged with making false statements to agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). If found guilty, Gillum faces a possible total of 45 years in prison for making false statements, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and the wire fraud itself.
Earlier in the week, NBC News national political reporter Marc Caputo tweeted that Gillum had already surrendered to authorities ahead of the indictment being unsealed. That indictment confirms that Gillum committed numerous crimes in his failed bid to defeat DeSantis, who, thankfully for Floridians, won the election instead.
There is other deviant behavior in Gillum’s past, including the time in early 2020 at the start of the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) plandemic when he was reportedly caught in a hotel room with a male escort and suspected baggies of crystal meth.
“Plastic baggies of suspected crystal meth, empty beer bottles and prescription pills are seen scattered among trash and soiled bedding in the shocking images,” reported the Daily Mail (UK).
“He was inside room 1107 with two more men, one of them a hunky 30-year-old male escort named Travis Dyson, who was found naked and in the throes of a drug overdose.”
As this breaking story continues to develop, we will keep you in the loop about any new developments that arise.
“On a scale of 1-10, how surprised are you? I’m a solid 5.6 because this is totally crazy but I totally believe it,” wrote someone at the Daily Wire about Gillum’s fate.
“This only means that they didn’t share with the other Dems,” suggested another about how this all probably works. “That’s the only reason that they are being charged.”
“He got to surrender under his own free will? I thought the norm was to have late-night raids and have them paraded in front of the press in leg shackles? Oh wait, that’s only Republicans that get that treatment,” joked another.
Another pointed out that Gillum was under investigation at the time when he was running, and that Democrats still voted for him anyway. Is the Left really so debased as to turn a blind eye to this type of thing and vote along party lines regardless?
“This is no surprise regarding his criminal acts, but only surprising that the Feds are doing anything about it,” wrote another. “Maybe because he is no longer useful?”
“He did not kick 10% to the Big Guy,” responded someone else, possibly referring to Joe Biden.
“One shudders to think about what Florida would look like today if Gillum had won that election,” another wrote.
