Canadian author, clinical psychologist and conservative commentator Dr. Jordan Peterson has declared that, if he were American, he would vote for former President Donald Trump in November because of his previous performance in office.
Peterson, the best-selling author of self-help books “12 Rules for Life” and “Beyond Order,” made this statement during an interview with British television host Piers Morgan on Sept. 19.
“If I could vote in the American election, I would vote for Trump. I don’t trust [Vice President Kamala] Harris,” Peterson said while taking note of the “hyper-powerful people” the Republican Party’s presidential nominee has gathered around him, and the “grace under pressure” he has shown surviving two assassination attempts within a span of two months.
“The best predictor of someone’s future behavior is their past behavior,” said Peterson. “If you’re trying to hire someone and you have documented history of their efforts in precisely the domain that you’re attempting to hire for, and the evidence is clear and valid, you use that in favor of all other predictive markers.”
Peterson also emphasized what he saw as a very positive development with Trump drawing in “a lot of hyper-powerful people” like Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, Vivek Ramaswamy and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., “most of whom would have been Democrats in anything approximating a sane and normal world.”
For the renowned clinical psychologist, this suggests that the “flamboyant and dominating” Trump does not “tilt too far in the narcissistic direction,” otherwise he would not be creating these coalitions and sharing “the spotlight with the rest of this crew.”
“I would vote for Trump if for no other reason than Musk himself has already agreed to head something like a Department of Governmental Efficiency in the U.S., then Kennedy is bringing the public health crisis into the political realm, and both of those two things are revolutionary,” Peterson stated.
Peterson further noted how Trump already has “a documented track record” in the presidency, which shows how the Republican was able to strengthen the American economy and use the pulpit of the presidency to create a “markedly stable international situation” that included “no wars.”
In comparison to Trump, Peterson noticed that under the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, “we have this terrible, brutal, and I think unnecessary war going on between Russia and Ukraine, which could spiral out of control at any moment, and is highly likely to.”
Trump has promised to end the conflict in Ukraine within “24 hours” of his possible second inauguration in January 2025. (Related: Trump says he’ll end the Ukraine-Russia conflict before even taking office if he wins the election.)
The former president has even given many indications that, if elected, he would be able to use his position of authority to put an end to Israel’s war against Palestinians in Gaza.
“We will stop it. I will stop the war,” said Trump back in June during an interview in Newark, New Jersey.
